Geoff Wharton

Geoff Wharton is a consulting historian, community relations and information research specialist. From 1980 to 1990 he lived at Weipa on Cape York, returning in 1998 to lead the implementation of the Ely Bauxite Mining Project Agreement with six Traditional Owner groups and the communities of Mapoon, Napranum and New Mapoon. His experience includes community history; development and presentation of historical themes for public displays and corporate cultural awareness courses; and over twenty years' involvement with the collection and preservation of Cape York Peninsula history.
