Jill Harland was born in South Wales, Great Britain. Following a twenty year career in Public Relations in Sydney, Jill and her family moved to the Gold Coast. After finalising her BA in Mass Communications she decided to pursue her love of local history and genealogy. In 1994-95 she visited the United Kingdom to write a local history of the Llanrumney area where her ancestors had lived for more than three centuries.
